BIO

Daniele Tomassini is the DJ, music producer and sound composer behind the Feel Fly project. Originally from Perugia (IT), where he still lives and works, Daniele, self-taught, began his musical career as a composer of soundtracks for theatre and film productions, from which came his first international awards, the starting point for his subsequent compositional work, including the latest, signed under the name Feel Fly, for the film I Santi (2021) by director Giacomo Abbruzzese, awarded at the prestigious CineMed festival in Montpellier.

Co-founder of the Afro Templum party, in 2015 he made his debut with the track called Ls, within the compilation "United Republic of Music" on the italian label Roots Underground, while the following year he released his first EP Same Old Place Vol.1 (2016) on his own label Too Romantic.

In addition to compositions for cinema and theatre, the club-oriented musical productions of these years will be essential to the definition of Feel Fly's sound, a sound that straddles worlds and eras that are only apparently opposed: Ambient, House and disco, merged with more acid , balearic and trancey sounds, finding favour with key figures of a certain European clubbing scene such as Prins Thomas, who released his first official album Syrius (2019) and then the EP Cosmo Cosmo (2022), interspersed with an ep of remixes by Dj Sotofett and Prins Thomas himself, all published on Internasjonal, or Gerd Janson, who recently released his latest work Mediterranean Dreams Part. 1 and Part.2 (2022) on International Feel Recordings (label founded by Mark Barrott).

After participating in the recent compilation Buena Onda Balearic Beats on the label Hell Yeah!, in the coming months, a new EP is scheduled for release on New Interplanetary Melodies, label of the legendary dj Simona Faraone, label for which, Feel Fly had already appeared as Remixer within the last record of Leo Young, also on NIM (2019).

Feel fly BORING biography

Daniele Tomassini aka Feel Fly

Daniele Tomassini's artistic path was born in a constant balance between the flair of the console and dancefloor and the rigor of the recording studio.
Self-taught, he chooses for his sound an ethereal and dreamy key. A style that characterizes him in all the projects in which he is a protagonist or collaborator both in the subculture milieu of his hometown - Perugia - and in his forays into national and international movements ascribable to "other" culture.
A composer of soundtracks and musical compositions for theater and film productions, he is also an active organizer of musical and cultural events.
A DJ and dancefloor matrix producer under the name Feel Fly, he alternates his passion and knowledge for keyboards, tapes and synths in the solo project Vaisa, the experimental trio Palenque Pacal and the improvisational duo Wunder Camera.

His interest and curiosity soon pushed him towards the world of synthesizers and sound experimentation, always looking for new forms of approach that reflect his aesthetic key and the characteristic emotionality of his soul.

After winning the soundtrack for the European project Rural 4 Youth of the 2012 edition, he began to take his first steps in the world of theatre thanks to the collaboration with Teatro Di Sacco, an avant-garde historical reality of the territory that entrusted him with the creation of the original music for the shows I Pachidermi and Solo di Sabato, in collaboration with Il teatro Stabile dell'Umbria. The transition to the world of cinema takes place automatically with the initial cooperation with the Retrò Film Festival which evolves, from 2014, in a continuous relationship with Dromo Studio.

It thus develops an analogue live concept for the Cinema al Bacio 2015 format on the films Il Monello by Chaplin, Nosferatu by Murnau Palla, n13 by Buster Keaton and Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene. He composed the music for his first shortmovie Forgotten followed by the original music for the project 'Crisalide' as part of the candidacy of the city of Perugia as European Capital of Culture 2019, realized in the spaces of the former city prison.

He took part in the short movie Il Giardino delle Utopie, in competition for the 48H Film Festival in 2016 and the following year won the Umbria in Celluloid prize at the PERSO film Festival with the soundtrack of the film Corsa a Termine, followed by his participation for Ciné Haïku with the work Ghost.

In 2018 he edited the music for the film Uomini e Fuochi, produced by Postmedia and Blumagma, winning the first prize as best documentary at the AS Film Festival in Rome, in addition to the participation in the national competition Il Cinema Ritrovato of the Cineteca di Bologna and the documentary film on the Perugia city punk scene EXCIM. In 2019 he composed a precise sound language for Eraserhead - Rimozione Sicura, an experimental film presented at the 55th International Film Festival of Pesaro and included in the 2019 catalogue of Fuorinorma, edited by Adriano Aprà.

In 2014 the artistic partnership Palenque Pacal began with the musicians Jacopo Fiore and Damiano Rizzo, a live sound project studied and designed for the film Fractions of Temporary Periods or Plans-séquences per una bambina (1965) by the experimental Italian director Piero Bargellini, performance that turned for cinemas and festivals including the Bergamo Film Meeting and the historic Cinema Beltrade in Milan.

The Wunder Camera project is also borned; live focused on a synth and drums impro for Vittorio De Seta's short films Parabola d'Oro, Pasqua in Sicilia and Contadini del Mare.

Constantly immersed in the study of sound, he does not neglect his vocation as a DJ and through his crucial apprenticeship in historic city clubs like Norman and Urban, at an early age he has already the privilege of working alongside artist of the calibre of Planet Funk, Subsonica, Leroy Thornill (Prodigy): thanks to this last meeting, Daniele is noticed and invited for the first time in Berlin to play in the clubs Griessmuelhe and About Blank (for showcases of legendary labels such as Vidab and Mojuba records), as well as to take part in the pioneering web experience of Studio r, which anticipates the Boiler Room format by a few years.

In 2015 he released his first track Ls for the label "Roots Underground" followed in 2016 by the release of his first EP "Same Old Place Vol.1" on his own "Too Romantic Records".

In 2019 his debut album "Syrius" was released on the Norwegian label "Internasjonal" by Prins Thomas together with the EP "Remixes" by Dj Sotofett and Prins Thomas, followed in the same year by an original reinterpretation of an unreleased track by Leo Young for the record label of the historical dj Simona Faraone "New Interplanetary Melodies".

DJ resident since 2015 for the Tangram and Numbers evenings at the Urban Club, among the many artists with whom he played, we mention: Follakzoid, Tale of Us, Syracuse, Jacques Renault, Dj Seinfeld, Marquis Hawkes, Mount Liberation Unlimited, Ivan Smagghe, Auntie Flo, Darrick May, Tiger & Woods, Leo Mas, L.U.C.A./Francisco, Phil Mison/Cantoma.

He has participated in numerous festivals and performances: CODE 2015 (alongside Giancarlo Schiaffini, Lino Capra Vaccina, Richard Chartier, Valerio Cosi) with Palenque Pacal; at 152 Store he sounded the exhibition of original plates by Obey Giant aka Shepard Fairey (2015); in the same year he took part in the festival Music For Sunset with Palenque Pacal in the project "Vinyl sonata für 4 turntables and drums" and collaborated with Immaginario Festival; in 2016 he performed twice with project Vaisa, for Sacred Noise, Contemporary Rawland at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive and in 2017 for Esperimenti Festival; in the same year, was a guest of Balearic Bassa and Paratissima Torino. In 2018 he was on the bill at Vetrosonica, Crusco Jazz, Holydays Festival and Open Art Week between Perugia and Tunis; in 2019 he took part in the Fuori Festival of the Spoleto Festival, Riverock Festival and Universo Assisi, and ArtDate 2019 for Bergamo Film Meeting; in 2020 he took part in the Orgatronica Festival.

Alchemist of the console, synth addicted, avid digger, he has always shown a strong attitude to network among the realities active in the subcultural environment: in 2011 he organized Rethink Play, a format which brings together several local DJs, in 2019 he joined the multidisciplinary cultural association Trascendanza, just to mention two of the projects he has helped to create over the years. He has many artistic experiences and partnerships; he does not forget the dimension of social centres, actively attending the historical Centrodentro of Perugia; as artistic director of Sottocosmo, he introduces in the Todi Festival an "off" space dedicated to the proposals of "different audiences" of well-known collectors and djs (2014 - 2017); he has been cooperating with Umbria Jazz since 2014; he was artistic director of the Fucine Contempo format at the Civic Museum of Palazzo della Penna in Perugia, culminating in 2017 with the concert by Laraaji & Carlos Niño in the Templar Church of San Bevignate; since 2016 he has been one of the two minds behind the Afro Templum experience, born as a monthly afro-kitsch party in Perugia old town in a club historically linked to the underground city, arousing international interest.
